Boards is a social discussion forum for open communication and community-driven conversations. This beta version of Open Boards, means it’s ready and available for everyone to use. All you need is a registered Gno.land username to start creating threads and commenting anywhere on the open version of Boards.

Don’t have a registered Gno.land username, or are new to Gno.land in general? The quick start guide below can help.

Gnomes take note: Gno.land and Boards are both under active development, so keep in mind the Boards application is in testing mode, and will only be production ready once Gno.land Beta Mainnet is live. There are many features constantly being added, so your feedback is welcome. Create a thread and let us know!

How To Get a Gno Address and Test GNOT Tokens

To use Boards, and most Gno.land applications, you’ll need:

  1. A Gno address, and
  2. Some test GNOT tokens to use on the Gno.land staging network (Boards is currently deployed on Staging)

You can get both in one of two ways:

Option One: Use the Adena Wallet

  • Download Adena
  • Once installed, open the wallet and use the built-in faucet button to receive test GNOT tokens instantly. You’ll want to make sure you are making transactions on the Staging Network.
  • Alternatively to the faucet button you could visit https://faucet.gno.land/ and use your wallet address to receive test GNOT tokens in Staging.

Option Two: Use the gnokey CLI

  • Set up gnokey on your computer. You can find the instructions on the Gno.land docs website.
  • Request your test GNOT tokens from the Faucet Hub by selecting the Staging Network.

How to Register Your Username

You’ll need to choose and register your Gno.land username on the Staging Network, to do so visit https://gno.land/r/gnoland/users/v1. This username will appear on all your threads, posts and comments on this particular network.

How to Start Using Boards

Visit the Discussions open board.

To create a new Board thread:

  • Click Create a Thread within the Discussions board and your Adena Wallet will open automatically, enter the title and body of your post, then approve the transaction.
  • If you’re using gnokey, copy the “create thread” command from the ‘actions’ tab with the information, paste it into your terminal, and run the transaction from there.

After your thread is created, you can easily share the link with others so they can join the discussion!
